Tips for buying the right size as a gift
Go by weight and height, not age
Kids grow at their own pace. If a 9-month-old is already 21 lb, a 12-month size will fit better than 6–9 months.
When in doubt, size up
Babies outgrow clothes fast. One size up gives a gift more wear — and is far less likely to be outgrown before it's opened.
Think about the season
A 12-month snowsuit is only useful if the child is that size in winter. Count forward to when the gift will actually be worn.
Measure feet, don't guess
Have the child stand, then measure heel to longest toe. Add about half an inch of growing room for shoes.
Brands run differently
European and boutique brands often run small or label by age in centimeters. Check each brand's own chart when you can.
